Reading 1: 1Mak 1: 10-15.41-43.54-57.62-64
At that time arose in Israel a king who sinned, namely Antiochus Epiphanes, son of king Antiochus. He had been a hostage in Rome. Antiochus Epiphanes became king in the one hundred and thirty-seven years in the reign of Greece. At that time arose from Israel some bad guys
which convinced many people by saying, "Let us have an agreement with the nations around us. Therefore since we are alone, we suffered much havoc." The proposal was well received. They were given the right by the king
to follow the customs of other nations. Then they built a sports stadium in Jerusalem according to the customs of other nations. And they restore their foreskin and murtadlah them from the holy covenant. They joined with the Gentiles and sold himself to do evil. Some time later King Antiochus Epiphanes wrote a warrant for the whole kingdom, that all people should be one nation. Each had to relinquish their own customary. Then all the nations adjust to the king's command.
Also of Israel there are many people who agree to worship the king. Sacrificed by their sacrifice to idols and profaned the Sabbath. On the fifteenth month of Kislev in the year one hundred and forty-five kings enforce vile idols on the altar of burnt offerings at the temple. And in all the cities throughout Judah they built the altar of idolatry anyway. On the doors of houses and in the fields burnt sacrifice. The Law were found shredded and burned down. If on the one contained Testament or if someone loyal to the law,
he was sentenced to death by a court of the king. However, there are many Israelis who remain steadfast heart and was determined not to eat anything unclean.
They would rather die than sully myself with that kind of food
and thus defile the holy covenant. And they die also.
Tremendous wrath against Israel.
Thus saith the Lord.

Psalms: Psalm 119: 53.61.134.150.155.158
Revive me, O Lord, that I hold on to your commands.
* I became upset against the wicked, who left thy law.
* Cords of the wicked twist me, but do not forget your law.
* Redeem me from the exploitation of man, so I observe thy precepts.
* People who pursue me with malicious intent was approaching, they move away from your law.

* Safety away from the wicked, for they do not seek thy statutes.
* Seeing the traitors I feel sick, because they do not stick to your promise.

Introduction to the Gospel of John 8:12
I am the light of the world. Whoever follow me will have the light of life.

Gospel: Luke 18: 35-43
When Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man sitting by the roadside begging. Because hearing a crowd going by, he asked, "What is it?"
They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth was passing by." So the blind man shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" People are walking in front told him to be quiet. But the more powerful he cried out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Then Jesus stopped and ordered the man drove her to him.
When the blind man was near, Jesus asked him, "What do you want that I have done to you?" The man replied, "Lord, may I see!" Then Jesus said, "sight, your faith has saved thee!" At that moment he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people witnessed the event and praising God.
Thus the Gospel of the Lord.

Afterthought
Sometimes we can be so amazed at our friends who can pray with great length. That prayer could dangle in beautifully poetic words, with the strains of the undulating sound hopeful. The words chosen it fit the mood of the people who were present, and penetrates deep down. Indeed, there are people who are good at preparing a prayer, also even if she had to pray spontaneously. Yes we are grateful for it.
Gospel today showing the blind leaders who call or call it prayer is very simple. The blind man just cried (read: pray) "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me" He cried so on, more and more strong, although reprimanded person, he still cried out with words that it was just fine, but the volume is getting stronger , "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me"
And his prayer was heard Lord Jesus. Jesus stopped asking what he asked and Jesus healed the man so that he can now see.
Our reflection today admire prayer formula was simple but very powerful .. "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me" In the tradition of prayer in the East, known prayer that is very popular, the name Jesus Prayer that says less is more "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me" or "Yes Jesus have mercy on me" may also "Jesus have mercy on me a sinner" substantially mention the name of Jesus. The most popular "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me" and performed in front of the Blessed Sacrament, "Lord Jesus Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament, have mercy on me" Try to repeat this prayer constantly repeated, especially when his mind meditation which often run where. Instead difficulty concentrating, call it the name of Jesus over and over again, and feel how peace and silence began creeping throughout the body and heart.

Items to contemplation
Actions of Jesus in today's reading, reminds us, His followers that we are not afraid of the hatred and persecution of people around us, if we are good and true in word and deed. This blind faith is a special example for us to keep us strong and steadfast in the faith of Christ who suffered and was crucified as a way to accomplish all things.

Prayer
O Lord let me not blind to the suffering, but let me see you in my suffering. Amen.
