First Reading Genesis 11: 1-9
As for the whole earth, one language and the same. So they went to the east and encountered flat ground in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. They said to one another, "Let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and tar for mortar.
Then they said, "Come, let us build us a city and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make a name, lest we be scattered all over the earth." Then there came the Lord to see the city and the tower which the sons of men, and He said: "They are one people with one language for everything. It's just the beginning of their business; from now on whatever they want, no that would not be possible. Let us go down and confuse their language, so that they no longer understand each other's language. " So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth, and from there the Lord scattered them all over the earth.
Psalm Ps 33: 10-11.12-13.14-15
God thwarted plans of the nations;
He negates the draft tribes; but God's plan remain forever, the design of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, tribes, whom he chose to be his own!
God looked down from heaven, he sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he consider all the inhabitants of the earth. He is forming their hearts all, are paying attention to their work.
Gospel reading Mark 8: 34-9: 1
On one occasion Jesus called the crowd and his disciples,
and said to them, "If any man will come after me,
must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it;
but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's,
he will save his life. What good is a gain the whole world, but he lost his life. What can a man give in exchange for his life? If anyone is ashamed of me and of my words in the middle of this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him
when he comes in the glory of his Father, accompanied by the holy angels. "Jesus said to them again," I tell you; Indeed, among the people present here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power. "

Devotional.
A man complained to our Lord endured the cross is too heavy. Then God brought him to pilot a cross shop. The others are too light so that the wind and something else too heavy, injuring his shoulder. He almost gave up and saw one cross leaning against the wall. This is what I have long been looking for "Then, with a smile of the Lord said to him" I am glad that you like the cross. That's the first cross that you bring in.
In today's Gospel Jesus tells his disciples to follow Him requisite requirements. One of the requirements to follow Him is willing to carry the cross - his. This requirement is not an option for the students, but rather a necessity. As followers of Christ, we also have an obligation to bear our cross, respectively. God gave the cross to us in accordance with our respective capabilities. Then there is no one who fails to follow Christ just as his cross was too heavy and beyond his ability.

Passions and desires of human beings who want added continuously it was already owned since the first human man first, as told in the first reading today. The story of the Tower of Babel is actually an expression of human tendencies that wish to acquire all and sundry, even if I have wanted to match God. Make a tower whose top will reach the heavens means that people want to emulate God's power. And that's a sin. That is the sin of pride and greed. So God to confuse human language, so that people strewn across the earth and willing to learn humility of having to learn any language of his neighbor.
Gospel proclaims salvation which is exactly opposite to the sins of pride and greed. Road safety is the path to follow Jesus that the conditions actually deny themselves, take up the cross, following Jesus is the willingness to dare to lose his life for Jesus. This is what the law of the Kingdom of God. If we want all to have, we will lose the life. However, if we are willing to let go and empty ourselves for Christ's sake, we actually get the true life abundant.
