First Reading Isaiah 58: 7-10

Salt and light are two things that commonly encountered and experienced in their daily lives. Jesus uses the term "salt" and "light" to show the essence of his followers. (Matthew 5: 13-16), reason, salt is used to give flavor to the food and preserving foods because salt has the power to control bacterial decay. Therefore, Jesus requires his followers.
First, to give a sense of a world that has become tasteless because people no longer live in love. Therefore, one of the main tasks followers of Christ is to make the world a place to stay that is safe and comfortable, love one another and live in peace.
Second, to save the world from sin decay. But "if the salt loses" (ay13), it means that the salt has lost its function. If so, he was no longer useful. Followers of Christ who have lost their function is of no use. "Light of the world" (ay14), because if there is no light, the movement is restricted, people can not enjoy the beauty of the world. Living things will die.
